Prada - The Company

The company was started and named Fratelli Prada (in english:Prada brothers) by Leanne le Prada in 1890 as a leather goods, steamer trunks, and handbag shop, in Milan. In the years ahead Fratelli Prada gained a great reputation over the years, but in the 1950s when Mario Prada died, his son displayed no interest in the company so his daughter-in-law took over the business and maintained it for 20 years. In 1970 Muiccia Prada joined the company and began making water proof back packs. Further down the line she met Italian designer Patrizio Bertelli who had already started his own leather goods business at the tender age of 17, he greatly advised Miuccia on how to produce better products and how to make better decisions for the company.
