Prada Glasses – Italian Chic |
|
Prada glasses are hot property thanks to the Italian chic that's so integral the brand.
Prada glasses are loved by the rich, famous and fabulous. But what is it about wearing Prada that holds such sway? Like Gucci, Prada is an authentic Italian brand rooted in quality and craftsmanship. Also like Gucci, Prada began as a leather goods shop in the early 1900s, building its brand on the reputation and quality of its luxurious designs. Prada glasses are very much associated with the chic luxury the brand represents.
Prada – A Brief History
Prada was established by brothers Fratelli and Mario Prada in 1913 in Milan, Italy. Their store not only retailed quality leather goods but imported English steamer trunks and handbags. The roots of Prada are strikingly similar to Gucci, where Italian flair met with English nobility, creating fashion with class. The Prada empire was passed through the Prada family. Mario's daughter-in-law ran the company after his death for twenty years, and her own daughter Miuccia Prada joined the brand in 1970. The Prada glasses, clothing and accessory lines evolved after the brand transformed its image in the seventies thanks to the influence of designer Patrizio Bertelli (who Miuccia later married). Miuccia also used her creativity to design Prada products and in the 80s, Prada expanded into a second boutique in Milan. From there, Prada spread across Europe, launched a shoe line, the classic Prada classic handbag and its ready-to-wear women's collection.
Prada Glasses and Accessories
But Prada glasses and designer wear were unlike Gucci in that they were associated with a 'feminine worker aesthetic' worn by affluent working women. The fact that Prada glasses and fashion didn't have a blatant logo like Gucci or Louis Vuitton ensured the brand appealed to those who were 'anti-status'. By the 90s, Prada had ensured its place at the top of influential fashion houses as it fast became the number one premium status symbol. The Prada glasses, handbags and belts earned the company the Council of Fashion Designers of America award for accessories in 1993.
Throughout the nineties, Prada went on to win more awards and continued its expansion with 40 retail outlets worldwide. In the nineties Prada gained a number of acquisitions to broaden its fashion portfolio, including Prada glasses and eyewear, ensuring Prada's reputation in luxury fashion goods. |
